Bio

An educator at heart, I am committed to providing creative lessons and engaging classroom instruction to promote the goals of literacy, critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration skills and applications to everyday life for all students.

Through the use of authentic instruction, I strive to show students the applications of knowledge outside of the school walls, allowing them to create worldwide connections and use their creativity skills to exhibit their growth of knowledge. Project based learning is at the core of my personal teaching pedagogy, as it allows students to create connections between various schemas and capitalize on their strengths, as well as fostering student accountability and interpersonal skills.

I aspire to provide a positive and safe learning environment that pushes students to think beyond the memorization of facts and towards application of knowledge and creation of artifacts of their thinking and getting students excited about their learning.

Education

During my four years at Indiana University, I studied elementary education and additionally gained concentrations in math and language arts, along with a reading endorsement. I recently finished my student teaching assignment in a high ability 3rd grade classroom, where I was also able to assist with online learning, as well as the school's robotics team and reading tutoring program.
